Ian Classen graduated in 2003 with a BSc. (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Cape Town, South Africa. He built his experience in a network of private practices in in Cape Town viz. RehabSA-Gorman Group and worked in both inpatients and outpatients, treating patients in ICU, Medical & Surgical and Orthopaedics (5years).
In 2008 Ian joined the physiotherapy medical team at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City managed by Cleveland Clinic. He was part of the Outpatient Orthopaedic Rehab Team in addition to attending daily rounds in the Post-Surgical Trauma Orthopaedic wards which ranged from MVA cases, sports injuries and elective surgeries. After 2 years he joined Mediclinic Middle East a Senior Physiotherapist in an Outpatient capacity serving a large network of Doctors within the organization and a multinational client population.
Following on, in 2014, Ian Classen moved to a well-established Sports Injury Clinic in Jumeirah specializing in post-surgical ACL Reconstructions and a variety of shoulder surgeries ensuring safe return to sports with a strong emphasis on normality through strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, corrective exercise and addressing movement pattern dysfunctions in addition to treating a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.
Ian Classen constantly updates his knowledge and skills by attending seminars, courses and workshops in Physiotherapy to stay at the forefront of research within the healthcare community. Passionate about health and sports, Ian is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. He did also further studies in Exercise Physiology through UCLA and has obtained certification in Dry Needling in UK and Ireland which he has practiced extensively within his treatments for the past few years.
Ian takes an interest in Sports, Fitness, Strength and Conditioning and Weight Management in addition to Travel, Outdoors and Mountain Biking.
